Ingredients
vegetable oil, for deep-frying
180g/6¼oz brie, cut into cubes
30g/1oz plain flour
1 egg beaten
55g/2oz white breadcrumbs
For the coulis
2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
½ orange pepper, de-seeded and diced
½ tbsp soft brown sugar
½ tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
4 tbsp water

Method
1. Heat a pan one-third-filled with vegetable oil, for deep-frying until a breadcrumb dropped in it will sizzle gently in it.
2. Coat the brie chunks in flour, dip in the beaten egg and then coat in the breadcrumbs.
3. Deep-fry in the hot oil for 1-2 minutes, or until crisp and golden.
4. For the coulis, place the garlic, pepper, sugar, vinegar, ketchup and water into a food processor and blend until smooth. Pass the mixture through a sieve and then heat gently in a small pan for a few minutes.
5. Transfer the deep-fried brie to a serving plate and drizzle the pepper coulis over to serve.
